WELCOME

Welcome to Nineteen Records, the home of top-notch quality tunes. Unlike other genre-driven musical websites, we have a healthy obsession with the different, with the dissimilar, and with the dangerously diverse! Nineteen Records was founded in 2006 to showcase the music of many a musical misfit... from the warped electronic tune generator Mekajinn to the rawkus rock 'n' roll of Binary Psychosis... from the innovative and introspective dynamic duo known only as Eh & Ee to the rampacious ragga-reggae rabble-rousing rascal Sniffy... all forms of music are regarded as influence! Indeed, it seems that anything and everything could be possible in the weird and wonderful space-time continuum that is Nineteen Records.

HISTORY

The story of Nineteen Records essentially began during the 1990s in Coventry, England, in a house that has since passed into the annals of infamy. That house was number 32 King Richard Street, and we have it on good authority that Coventry City Council will include the aforementioned property on their consideration list for the erection of a plaque, and are even pondering the introduction of official tours conducted by local dignitaries.

It was in this abode that the urchinous punk residents, and their erstwhile associates, served their musical apprenticeship, culminating in the cartoon punk outfit 'Thunk', who enjoyed amongst their achievements being rated by (the now defunct) Melody Maker as the fastest band this side of the Atlantic, and an appearance in the In The City Live Unsigned festival, won that year by Kula Shaker and Placebo. Further to this, and possibly their greatest achievement, was being asked to turn the volume down during a particularly stentorophonic soundcheck at the Golden Cross public house... by none other than the Bishop of Coventry himself! Apparently he was having difficulty hearing that week's bell ringing practice in the neighbouring Coventry Cathedral!

Other musical acts that 'served time' as residents of this home for the harmonically hellbound included the funk thrash combo 'Indian Orange' and the ecclectic electronic MIDI guru 'Staggbag'. All good things must come to an end, and in 1997 the residents of King Richard Street went their seperate ways. However, bound by an invisible elasticated cord, their paths have crossed recurringly ever since, and many an aural outpouring has resulted!
