Meka - prefix taken from the blockbusting classic Japanese movie 'Godzilla vs. Mekagodzilla' meaning mechanical. Jinn - in ancient Arabian mythology a jinn is an intelligent spirit of lower rank than the angels. Not only are they able to appear in both human and animal forms, but they are also able to possess humans.

Mekajinn lists many artists as influences - Orbital, The Orb, KLF, Leftfield, Ed Rush, Optical, Adam Freeland, Photek, Rozzer's Dog, Yello, Stay Up Forever, Tresor, and many many more, too numerous to mention here. He started in early 1998 using an Atari STe running a cracked version of Cubase, a Yamaha MU50 coupled with Alesis HR16 and Roland TR505 drum machines. Added to this dream team was an old Fostex 8 track tape recorder, and an even older Allen & Heath desk... fzzzzzzzzzzt!
Since those days much has changed, and now his 'line up' includes a Macbook Pro running Cubase 4 and Reason 4, a Yamaha 01V mixer, several awesomely fantastical software synths, a Marshall stack, a super-duper Gibson Firebird electric guitar and a Peavey bass guitar. Yeah!!! When asked about how he goes about writing a tune the Mekster replied "It's like a magical journey. I don't plan where it goes, the sounds just take me where they think I should go!"
